10th Annual Leadership Celebration Recap

Eighty-Five brothers, dates, family, friends, and also Balanced Man Scholarship finalists and their parents came together on October 3rd, 2009 for the 10th Annual Leadership Banquet. The purpose of this gathering is to celebrate the hard work that has taken place since the beginning, while also taking time to award our annual Balanced Man Scholarship to one freshman male who exemplifies the principles of the Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity.  Click the Read More link for a full recap of the event, including presentations and award winners and be sure to check out the photos from the event.

After the cocktail hour gave alums and undergrads a chance to mingle and reminisce, the group moved into the presentation hall for speeches. Phil Patrick gave a great presentation (click here to view it) of the overall aspects and ideals while also giving a great explanation of the Leadership Continuum, which turned out to be a great tool for the Balanced Men and their families to get an understanding of what Sigma Phi Epsilon is really all about.

After Phil’s presentation, we were able to take a blast in the past to look back at the last 10 years with a presentation by Brian Corvino. Brian was able to show us how Sigma Phi Epsilon came about on our campus along with pointing out the hard work that the founding fathers and every year after put in to make us, what we are today.

One of the special parts of the night was, when everyone was able to listen to three of our own Alumni Brothers and how Sigep has changed their life for the better and shaped them into the person that they are today. It was really a feel good story in each one of their cases and it showed how making a choice to join a brotherhood could turn out to be one of if not their best decision in life. After the speeches from the alumni, it was now time for the recipients of this year’s Alumni and Undergrad Awards.

The following outstanding brothers received awards as follows:

Consummate Gentleman: Trever Sweeney
Powerhouse Athlete: Andrew Grando
Highest GPA: Christopher Kalis (3.75)
Fearless Leader: Kyle Krupa
Red Door: Anthony Falco
Service Above Self: Daniel Belowich

The $1,000 Balanced Man Scholarship was awarded to Evan Lick from Haddonfield, NJ.

Congrats everyone and thanks for another fantastic event!
