Undergrads Stun Alums, Win Softball Series 2 Games To 1

\'

While the Alums came out strong with a 6-3 victory in the first game of the 2008 Alumni-Undergrad Softball game, the Undergrads won the final two games of the series 8-0 and 3-2. Johnny Mac’s precision pitching, Louis Dollarton’s power hitting and and Ryan Rempe’s lights out fielding at short-stop were just too much.  The Alums, who as a group hit eleven homers last year, had just two this year and scored only 8 runs total.  Desperate Alums attributed the lack-luster offensive production to several factors including the early departure of Matt Desch, who left after the first game, and to the temperature difference between the two dugouts. The Undergrad dugout was cool and breezy while the Alumni dugout baked in direct sunlight and sauna-like temperatures.  Rest easy you sweaty, sunburnt Alums.  This year’s Undergrad stars will soon graduate and become your ringers in another battle against the never-older Undergrads.  Check out the Media page for pictures from the game.

The softball game was the main event this past weekend, but there was also an Epsilon Ritual, a new feature of the Retreat Weekend that you may see repeated in years to come.  After a refresher and a walk-through by Dom Nigito, the old guys stepped in and inducted the following brothers: Rob Shaffer, Anthony Falco, Tom Fishbach, Kyle Krupa, Ryan Rempe and Simon Tabchi.
