Giving Back: Fight AIDS With Your Idle Time

A cool thing happened in the months leading up to the Relay for Life. We saw that many of our brothers are willing to donate time and money to worthwhile causes. With that in mind, we’re going to periodically highlight opportunities for anyone to make a difference in a series called Giving Back. The first such opportunity is called World Community Grid and it’s an IBM project that allows you to donate your idle computer time to projects that benefit humanity. The network of idle computers creates a supercomputer-like grid that is used to perform complex operations aimed at curing cancer, fighting aids and other important projects. If you’re interested in joining the SigEp PABA Grid, click on the title of the article for the extremely easy instructions (including screenshots). All you have to do is create an account and install the software.
